Other activities at the beach include beach soccer, foot volleyball, or frescobol. Even if you're not interested in participating in many of these activities, take time to watch them play. Foot volleyball for instance is similar to volleyball, but instead they use a soccer ball and the use of hands is restricted. It's unbelievable how much control they have over the ball using their bodies. This game can become quite serious, you'll regularly see fans putting money on who will win.

However, because of the proximity to the favela it's important to keep your valuables in a safe place when visiting.
